AARC will be holding its quarterly VE (Volunteer Examiner) session where people can take exams to obtain or upgrade an Amateur Radio (ham radio) license, adminstered for the FCC by our ARRL accredited Volunteer Examineers (VEs). Your exam will be graded on the spot.

There is normally a nominal fee to take the exam ($15?) to cover the cost of testing materials. This fee includes taking elements 2,3, and/or 4.

You will also have an opportunity to join the AARC and to join the ARRL at a discounted price.

For those who wish to do a rapid study for the exam, here is a site that lets you take the practice tests for free and for a small fee will also provide programmed learning (they guarantee you can pass the exam): Ham Test Online. They say the average study time for Technician exam is 10 hours. $25 for the Technician exam, slightly more for higher license grades. There is also a variety of free study materials online including practice exams, youtube videos of license classes, study guides, etc.
