Third Annual Virginia Ham Radio Cruise-In all set for Saturday, April 28, 10 am till 4 pm

We have made some more changes in the Third Annual VA Ham Radio Cruise-In. We will offer souvenir QSL Cards and Program folders to all attending and we have added discussion groups such as Emergency Solar Power with a demonstration and discussion, as well as Remote Operations by Jay James W4BSB from Virginia Beach. Seeing these set ups will make the trip worthwhile alone.
The activities we plan for the day now include :
Third Annual Cruise-In Schedule of Activities
10 am – Repeater Use & Protocol discussion group led by Jim K4CGY
11 am – Emergency Solar Power for home and field discussion group led by Linda KI5LLB and Roland KK4EDU. The Beards will be on hand with their mobile solar power unit to demonstrate and outline an how-to-do-it.
Noon – Picnic time – tailgating party time.
1 pm – HF GOTO Station operation and discussion led by Bill Phillips AD6JV (Station will be running most of the day)
1:30 PM – Remote Operation discussion led by Jay James W4BSB from Va Beach who has a VERY Unique setup for HF. He has a station in VA Beach and another in Texas. Both are HF and BOTH can be operated remotely. He provides his own Internet in the vehicle. (His demo will be available most of the day)
2 pm – Mobile Ham Station Wiring discussion group led by Marty Wangberg W4MBW
3 pm – Emergency & Portable Logging On The Fly discussion group led by Jim Crosby K4JEC

Ongoing activities:

Swap Meet – Selling, swapping or trading of amateur radio equipment
Amateur Radio Programming – Bring your laptops and any programming software you have available to offer others.

It’s all FREE! The idea of swapping ideas, information and how-to-do-it tricks seems to have a universal appeal so pack a picnic lunch and join the fun for a day in the Darden Towe Park in Charlottesville on Saturday, April 28, from 10 am till 4 pm and great weather is forecasted.
