Upcoming Public Service Events

The end of the Albemarle ARC Public Service Event calendar is approaching.  You have two more opportunities to get PS event credit for the year.  Saturday, August 29 is the Wisdom Oak Winery Triathlon event.  This takes place at Walnut Creek Park and is made up of 2 different triathlons.  The Olympic event starts at 8AM with a 1500 M swim, a 23.5 mile bike race, and then a 6.2 mile run.  At 8:40AM the Sprint Triathlon with half distance legs starts.   As you know if you have participated before, these Triathlon events start early, and are over early.  We should all be able to finish up and head out before lunch.   I have many positions to fill, and if you have not worked a public service event yet, this is a great opportunity to get your feet wet.

Our final event is scheduled for Sunday, September 13.  This is the Boys and Girls Club Cycling Challenge which starts and finishes from Old Trail Village in Crozet.   This is a great event, and you will be helping provide for the safety of many young riders out on the road course, as well as younger children on the short Family Ride.  This event is especially important to the AARC.  The event organizer for the B&G Club is our own Shannon Tevendale KJ4VJR.  Shannon has been a great supporter of the AARC PS program and this is our opportunity to give back in kind.   Again, many positions to fill, so let me know that you would like to participate.

Thanks and I look forward to working with you on these events.
